OnePlus is reportedly gearing up to unveil a Nord-branded smartwatch in the Indian market in the third quarter of this year. In a new update, the anticipated wearable has reportedly entered internal testing in India. It has allegedly been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website as well, hinting that it may arrive in the Indian market soon. nulls royale The wearable portfolio of OnePlus currently includes OnePlus Watch and the OnePlus Band. The OnePlus Nord Watch is expected to come as the successor to the former that was unveiled in March last year.
The company is likely to launch the smartwatch in India before it arrives in other markets.
The device has been spotted on the BIS website under the name “OnePlus Smart Watch”. It has been certified by the certification body with a model number of “ONEPLUS SMART WATCH 2”. The listing does not reveal any details about its specifications, but it shows that it may be launched in India soon. Additionally, as per a report by GizmoChina, the OnePlus Nord Watch is expected to be priced at CNY 499 (roughly Rs. 5,000) in China and will be available for purchase from June end onward. It will come with a price tag of CNY 299 (roughly Rs. 3,000) for potential customers who have already purchased OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T smartphones from April onwards. The company may also offer some cash back options on purchasing both devices together in order to attract a wider audience towards its upcoming wearable device.
the OnePlus Nord Watch is expected to feature a 1.3-inch circular AMOLED touchscreen display with 390×390 pixels resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio as per previous reports. It will also come equipped with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, just like its predecessor that was launched earlier this year along with the OnePlus 6T smartphone duo in India during an event held in New Delhi last month- Askmodapk
The wearable device is also expected to be powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset that will be coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. It is also likely to come with support for NFC, GPS, and LTE connectivity options.
The device is expected to be backed by a 450mAh battery that will last up to a day or two on a single charge.
The OnePlus Watch is also rumoured to be equipped with a slew of sensors such as an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, and others. It is also likely to feature support for Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for wireless connectivity options. As mentioned earlier, the wearable device will come with support for both Android Wear 2.0 and iPhone’s watchOS 5 platforms.
The company already confirmed that the upcoming wearable device will be priced much lesser than Apple’s popular smartwatch lineup including the Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Watch Series 4 models which are priced at Rs 29,900 and Rs 39,999 respectively in India. However, it remains to be seen how much more affordable OnePlus’ upcoming smartwatch will be compared to the aforementioned Apple products in India when it launches in the country next month or in early December this year alongside its OnePlus 7 series smartphones in India.
It is also worth mentioning here that OnePlus’ upcoming smartwatch will not be the first Android Wear 2.0-powered wearable device in India as it will be joining the company’s own OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and the recently launched Moto 360 (Gen 4) smartwatches in India.
